Rony Torres came to America with the clothes on his back and not much else. He still has no earthly explanation for what happened next. He met a missionary named Jefferson Hernandez who along with his wife Carol, was planting a church in Sterling, Virginia to reach the Hispanics moving into their community. That new church was called, appropriately enough, Campo Blanco, which in English means “White Field.” Now, Rony gets teary-eyed whenever he remembers their first meeting. “That,” he says, “was the beginning of my journey.”
