Our featured missionaries for the summer of 2024 are Vergil and Kelsey Brown. They are church planting missionaries in Portland, Oregon.

Vergil planted Redemption Church in Portland with the support of his wife, Kelsey. The effort has been a family affair as their kids regularly volunteer to assist with Sunday morning services. NAMB photo by Ben Rollins

The city is a welcoming place.
There are all different kinds of people, all different types of personalities here. It’s so welcoming that Portland is a place that people escape to as well, so when they want to get away from whatever they’re coming from or they don’t feel like they fit in there, they can find a home and find friends in Portland.

Vergil Brown is the lead church planting missionary of Redemption Church in Portland, Oregon. While Vergil is the church planter, his entire family is part of the church planting team. This includes his wife, Kelsey, and their children: Olive, Lincoln, Coco and Georgia.

We are giving our kids a front-row seat to watch God’s faithfulness unfold in front of our eyes and in front of their eyes.
